CAMPING DU QUINQUIS *** Le Pouldu/Brittany

Camping du Quinquis is set within 20 acres of attractive parkland yet it is just over 1km to a choice of 3 sandy beaches and also splendid walks and views along the estuary of the river Laita.

We started using Quinquis 17 years ago when we purchased the land and started developing the camp site. A few years ago we sold the site to new English owners Andrew and Carol Munro who as well as providing a warm welcome, have continued to improve and enhance the facilities.

In addition to the existing large heated swimming pool Carol and Andrew have added a further pool and also extended the existing poolside bar and terrace. Also added in the last year is a tennis court near to the pool area.  A great feature of this site is the well laid out parkland which in addition to providing individual plots also boasts a wide variety of trees and shrubs. There are several small copse wooded areas and young children delight in making dens with their new found friends.

This site really is great fun for young children with a well run daily English kids club whilst for adults there is the bar with satellite television and also the splendid take-away run by ‘Claude’ a retired master chef who in addition to the normal take-away meals also provides a daily gourmet special.

On Site Facilities: 2 Swimming Pools, Children’s Pool, Bar, Take-Away food, Children’s Play area, Children’s Club, Tennis, Table Tennis, Games Room, Mini Golf, Washing and Drying Machines, Bike Hire, Small Shop.

Recommended Travel: The port of Roscoff is just 99 miles away. Alternatively Caen is around 4 hours drive. Try the 0845 Portsmouth-Caen and return using the 1700 Caen-Portsmouth.

The Area: The surrounding countryside is some of the most attractive in France and it is no wonder that painters such as Gauguin made this area their home. Within 1km there are 3 lovely beaches and as well as cliff walks the banks of the river Laita are well worth exploring, whilst the port at Le Pouldu makes a scenic place for a leisurely drink or meal and it is also great for ‘crabbing’.

Within easy reach there is much to see including the extraordinary standing stones at Carnac, the walled port of Concarneau, the painters village of Pont Aven and the cathedral town of Quimper.

Nearby: Horse-riding, mini golf, go-karting and a choice of 2 superb 18 hole golf courses. Good supermarkets and hypermarkets are just 15 mins drive away.
